The mission of the Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department is to provide the fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical service, hazard control, and other such emergency services, incidents, responses or events, as required for the protection of lives and property in Vernon Township or upon mutual aid response; and to conduct such other activities that builds team or supports our mission.
The Vernon Township VFD responded to the first incident of 2015. Crews were called to perform traffic control for the accident. Brush 27-4 responded with 4 members and was on scene for roughly 3 1/2 hours.
At 2:11pm, Dept 27 was dispatched to a reported MVA with no injuries at the intersection of Mercer Pike and Conneaut Lake Road. 27-1 arrived at the scene with two vehicles damaged and one patient entrapped. At 9:32 PM: Dept. 27 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on South Mosiertown Road. Reports indicated there was one vehicle rolled over and no injuries nor entrapment.
27-1 and 27-4 responded to the scene. South Mosiertown Road was closed at the intersection of South Mosiertown Road and Dunham Road. Units were back in-service at 10:25 PM.
At 8:30 PM last night, Dept. 27 was dispatched to assist Dept. 23 on a working structure fire on Cherry Street near Jackson Avenue.
First arriving crews reported a fully involved structure fire. Dept. 23 was assisted by Dept. 27, Dept. 7, Dept. 31, Dept. 20, Dept. 40, and Dept. 12.
